Spartines lies off Alonnisos Island in the Northern Sporades, an island group in the Aegean Sea off the coast of Thessaly. The waters around Alonnisos fall within Greece's National Marine Park of Alonnisos, established to protect the surrounding marine habitat. Divers here have reported mauve stingers, Mediterranean cardinalfish, Mediterranean damselfish, Mediterranean red sea stars, ornate wrasse, and painted combers around the site.
