About this site
The State of Michigan foundered off Whitehall when a piston rod was thrown through the bottom of her hull on October 18, 1901. She was a 165 ft wooden passenger and package freight steamer. Her boiler and outer hull are exposed for divers to inspect in 60 to 75 feet of water. Lies in about 21.3 m; sank 1901.
