About this site
The Stella Maru is a Japanese trawler that was deliberately scuttled off the northwest coast of Mauritius, near Trou aux Biches in the Pamplemousses district, to serve as an artificial reef. The wreck sits upright on a sandy bottom and has become encrusted with coral growth over the decades, attracting reef fish and the occasional larger pelagic passing over the site. It reaches a maximum depth of around 26 metres and is rated an advanced dive. It is typically reached by a short boat trip from the nearby coast, making it a popular wreck dive for those visiting the island's northern shore.
