About this site
Sund Rock is a shore dive site on Hood Canal in Washington State, part of the Puget Sound region, and is a designated marine preserve known for its rocky reef structure. Divers commonly encounter wolf eels, giant Pacific octopus, and a variety of rockfish among the boulders and walls that slope down from shore. The site is often dived in two main areas, a north wall and a south wall, with depths ranging from shallow shelves near the entry down to around 20 to 30 metres or more. Visibility and cold water conditions in Hood Canal mean drysuit training is typically recommended, and the entry involves a rocky, sometimes steep scramble that can make it more demanding for less experienced divers.
