About this site
Sunken Island lies off Sipalay on the southwestern coast of Negros Occidental, a submerged reef patch reached by boat from the town's resorts along the Sulu Sea. It reaches a maximum depth of around 25 metres over a reef bottom and is rated an advanced dive due to strong currents that run through the site. Divers have reported frogfish, grouper, mackerel, and parrotfish here, and some have also noted signs of dynamite fishing damage on parts of the reef. The strong current is the main hazard to plan around when diving it.
