About this site
Sangiang Island sits in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra, within the volcanic zone shaped by nearby Krakatoa, and Tanjung Bajo Timur marks a point on its eastern side. The island is reached by boat from ports along the Banten coast of western Java, and its shoreline is mostly rocky and volcanic, typical of the strait's geology. The site tops out at around 11 metres, making it a shallow dive along this stretch of coast.
