The Fad lies off Inhambane on the southern coast of Mozambique, in the stretch of open water between Tofo and Barra where local dive centres launch their boats. The name points to a fish aggregating device anchored offshore, a structure commonly used in this part of the Mozambique Channel to draw in pelagic species. It reaches a maximum depth of around 33 metres and is rated an advanced dive.
