About this site
The Star of Greece lies off Port Willunga, south of Adelaide on South Australia's Gulf St Vincent coast. It was a British iron-hulled sailing ship that ran aground and broke up in a storm in 1888 while carrying cargo to Port Adelaide, with the loss of several crew. The wreckage is scattered across the sandy seabed within reasonable distance of the beach at Port Willunga, making it accessible to divers and snorkellers from shore. Over the decades the site has become a popular local dive spot for those interested in South Australian maritime history.
