About this site
Tokong Timor is a dive site off Tenggol Island, a small island in the South China Sea off the coast of Terengganu in peninsular Malaysia. The island sits within an area known for granite boulder formations and seasonal diving tied to the monsoon calendar of the east coast. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 35 metres, rated as a beginner dive despite strong current and good visibility. Barracuda, batfish, grouper, and whale shark are found here, with divers also reporting damselfish, trevally, tuna, and further whale shark sightings. Strong current and undertow are the main hazards, and some divers have also noted fishing nets and deeper water off the site as concerns.
