Turtle Tomb

Turtle Tomb is a limestone cave system at Sipadan Island off the coast of Malaysian Borneo, connected to the open water by several tunnels and chambers that twist and turn through the interior. It is named for the green and hawksbill turtles that swim in seeking shelter but occasionally become disoriented and drown, and divers have reported turtle skeletons scattered along the cave floor. The site reaches a maximum depth of 23 metres, is rated advanced, and visibility inside is generally good. It sits alongside Sipadan's better known wall and drift dives, and divers passing through the site have also reported fusiliers, snapper, and trevally, though the draw here remains the cave system itself and its overhead passages rather than the fish life.
