U-533 (German submarine wreck)

U-533 is a German Type IXC submarine sunk in 1943 by British forces in the Gulf of Oman and later located and dived off the coast of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates. It lies well offshore in deep water, which keeps it out of reach of casual divers and makes it a technical or deep-specialty dive rather than a recreational one. The hull is reported largely intact, a rare condition for a World War Two U-boat, and it draws divers specifically for its historical significance as a wartime wreck. Given its depth, it is generally regarded as an advanced or technical-level dive requiring appropriate training and gas planning.
