About this site
This site takes its name from the Urquiola, a Spanish supertanker that ran aground and broke apart near the port of A Coruna in 1976 while carrying crude oil, causing a major spill along the Galician coast. The wreckage lies off this stretch of the Galician shoreline in the Atlantic waters of northwestern Spain.
