About this site
This site sits offshore of Venice, Florida, a stretch of the Gulf Coast well known among divers and beachcombers for fossilized shark teeth, including megalodon teeth, that wash out of submerged sediment layers. The area lies south of Tampa Bay along Sarasota County's coastline, where phosphate-rich deposits on the Gulf floor are a draw for fossil hunting dives.
