About this site
Vetch's Pier lies just off the Durban coastline in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and is a popular shore entry dive site. It is shallow, with a maximum depth of around 5 metres, over a rubble bottom, and is rated a beginner dive with good visibility. Divers commonly encounter angelfish, damselfish, scorpionfish, surgeonfish, and wrasse. Scorpionfish are a known hazard here, so care is needed when settling on the bottom, and divers have also reported breaking waves and moray eels at the site.
