The General Carleton wreck lies in the Baltic Sea off the coast of Poland, near the approach to Gdansk. It is the remains of an English merchant ship that sank in the late 17th century, discovered and excavated by Polish maritime archaeologists. The Baltic's cold, low-oxygen, low-salinity waters are known for preserving wooden wrecks unusually well, which is part of why this site draws archaeological interest.
