About this site
YP-387 was a small U.S. Navy patrol vessel, a converted trawler, that was sunk off the coast of New Jersey during World War II after being attacked by a German U-boat in 1942. The wreck now rests on the seabed off the Jersey shore and is one of several wartime casualties scattered along this stretch of coast. Given its size, it sits as a compact wreck rather than a sprawling one, and like most New Jersey wrecks it draws divers interested in wartime history as much as marine life. Conditions along this part of the Atlantic coast tend to include cooler water and limited visibility compared to tropical wrecks, which is typical of New Jersey wreck diving generally.
