Zeelandbrug

The Zeelandbrug dive site sits beneath the long bridge connecting Schouwen-Duiveland to Noord-Beveland, spanning the Oosterschelde estuary in Zeeland. Divers here descend along the bridge pilings in the tidal channel, a spot known in the Netherlands for current-driven drift dives timed to slack tide. The Oosterschelde's brackish, nutrient-rich water supports anemones, crustaceans, and a variety of fish that cling to the pillars, and the site is popular with Dutch and Belgian divers for its accessibility from shore. Because of the strong tidal streams through the estuary, diving here is planned tightly around the tide tables, and it is rated an advanced dive as a result. Depths under the bridge vary with the channel bed but the pilings themselves offer a structured, current-sheltered profile close to the surface. It is one of several well known Oosterschelde bridge and dam sites frequented by local dive clubs.
