Banana Rock is a reef dive site on the eastern coast of Racha Noi island, situated just outside the large bay that typically serves as the first dive of the day. The terrain differs markedly from the bay itself: the shallowest point sits at around 7 m, where rocks and hard coral reef meet sand, and a small patch reef marks the start of the dive. From there, hard coral reef slopes descend gently to a maximum depth of 25 m, with staghorn coral a notable feature along the slope. Multiple mooring lines are in place, and dives generally begin in clear, shallow flat areas between 3 and 10 m before working deeper across the sandy bottom.
Marine life at Banana Rock is varied across the depth range. Reef fish including fusiliers, triggerfish, butterflyfish, and basslets are found along the staghorn coral. Giant morays, reef octopus, black and white snapper, sea snakes (considered non-dangerous), lionfish, and scorpionfish are commonly encountered in the shallower sections. The sandy bottom harbours blue-spotted stingrays, scissortail gobies moving in pairs, and sea moths, while the patch reef at the start of the dive is a good place to find octopus. Juvenile cockatoo waspfish have also been recorded here. Nudibranchs and pipefish can be found by searching the rocks carefully. Manta rays are a possibility in the deeper section, though encounters are not guaranteed.
Entry is by boat, with mooring lines provided. Currents are mild, and the site is also popular for snorkelling. The best diving season runs from November to May. The site is rated beginner level and is accessible to all certification levels.
