Batu Layar, also known as Sail Rock, is a dive site named after a sail-shaped rock that breaks the surface. The maximum depth is around 18 metres over a sandy bottom with great coral coverage, and the site is rated beginner.
Large rock formations, crevices and overhangs shelter a variety of marine life. Pufferfish, scorpionfish and hawksbill turtles are expected, an occasional bamboo shark turns up, and angelfish and barracudas are common. Larger pelagic species are sometimes seen as well, which makes the site a popular one with underwater photographers.
