Car Pile is an artificial reef made from a collection of sunken cars, construction equipment and other large debris. It lies off the southeastern coast of Curacao at a depth of about 12 to 18 metres (40 to 60 feet), with visibility described as great.
The debris sits on a rubble bottom and has been colonised by corals, sponges and anemones. Sergeant majors, silver barracuda and porcupine puffer fish are among the fish seen here, egg patches have been spotted, and divers have also reported a shark.
Confirmed by our research team, reported by independent divers, or observed nearby via iNaturalist — each entry is labelled with its source.
