About this site
Carless Reef is an exposed offshore reef in the Red Sea, an hour by boat from El Gouna, and a dive for experienced divers at 16 to 40 m and deeper. The dive often starts with a negative entry to get below any surface chop, down to a wide plateau at about 16 m.
Two pinnacles rise from the plateau. The usual plan is to explore the east side of the north pinnacle and then drift south with the current to the coral gardens of the second.
The reef draws large pelagic life, with giant morays, tuna, jacks, barracuda, reef sharks and napoleon wrasse.
