Casa Cenote is an open, river-like cenote about 10 km north of Tulum and 70 km south of Playa del Carmen, on the Caribbean coast of Quintana Roo, Mexico. It connects the Nohoch Na Chich cave system, one of the longest underwater cave systems in the world, with the ocean.
The dive follows the course of the river at no more than 8 m (26 ft) deep, running alongside the jungle and at times through algae-covered mangrove roots that reach into the water. Huge rocks overgrown with moss and green algae decorate the bottom.
Because of the link to the ocean, both fresh and saltwater fish live here. Small caves along the sides run into the jungle and are often used by manatees. At the end of the river you might spot different bird species when you surface.
