Cassimir is a freighter wreck off the North Carolina coast, lying in about 120 ft (37 m) of water. She carried molasses from Baltimore to Cuba for the rum trade. On the morning of February 26, 1942, she was moving through dense fog when she hit another freighter, and both ships were running quiet and fast to avoid U-boats. The collision opened a gash in her starboard side and she sank.
Visibility averages 70 ft (21 m) and can pass 100 ft (30 m). The wreck is rated as an expert-level dive and is described as one of the top five dives off the North Carolina coast.
Large schools of amberjack and spadefish swim around the wreck. Tropical fish such as the queen angelfish are seen regularly.
