Dedalo lies off Capo Testa, the granite headland at Sardinia's northern tip near Santa Teresa di Gallura, on the Strait of Bonifacio that separates the island from Corsica. The site reaches a maximum depth of around 45 metres and is rated technical, with deep diving and strong currents among the reported hazards. The rocky terrain supports gorgonian-type growth and other invertebrates rather than open sand or reef flats, and divers have reported Mediterranean red coral, violescent sea-whips, cushion coral and yellow cluster anemones on the rock, along with drifting by-the-wind sailors and mauve stingers in the water column. Clownfish have also been noted here, along with occasional sightings of hammerhead shark and manta ray. The combination of granite structure, depth and strait current is typical of this stretch of coast between Sardinia and Corsica, and makes Dedalo a dive for those comfortable with both.
