Duane is the wreck of the USCGC Duane, a 327 foot (100 m) Treasury class Coast Guard cutter lying off Key Largo, Florida. She was built in 1936 at the Philadelphia Navy Yard and served through wartime and peacetime. She was intentionally sunk in November 1987 as an artificial reef, and she sits upright.
The seabed is at about 120 feet (37 m). The main deck is at around 100 feet (30 m) and the crow's nest can be reached at about 60 feet (18 m). Doors and large openings were cut out before sinking, which makes the wreck easy to move around and gives swim-throughs. The dive is rated advanced, and depths on the wreck run from about 70 to 120 feet (21 to 37 m). Currents can be very strong.
The wreck is covered in colourful coral growth, fed by nutrients from the Gulf Stream. Barracuda gather here in large numbers, and bull sharks and goliath groupers are often seen. Divers have also reported turtles and eels around the structure.
