Hin Kong is a rock formation within the Surin National Marine Park, whose name translates to "a pile of rocks." It consists of giant granite boulders stacked on top of each other, rising above the surface and sloping down to a sandy bottom at 30 m, with the shallowest point at around 10 m.
The site is home to a large number of red-tooth triggerfish and whip corals spread across the ocean floor. Lobsters are commonly found here, and tiger sharks have been sighted cruising the area in recent times.
Entry is by boat. The dive runs from 10 m to 30 m, and because the terrain slopes gradually deeper, it is easy to exceed your planned depth without noticing — divers should monitor their depth carefully throughout the dive.
Open Water divers are limited to 18 m at this site; the full 30 m depth requires Advanced Open Water certification or equivalent. Light current is typical, though stronger currents can occur. Water temperature ranges from 27–30°C, and visibility is generally good. The best season to dive Surin National Marine Park, including Hin Kong, runs from November to April.
