Isla Lobos is a small, narrow island in the Galápagos archipelago, near San Cristóbal, named after the colony of Galápagos sea lions that live there. It is a reef dive site suitable for beginners and is commonly used as a check dive before trips to more demanding sites such as Kicker Rock. Both scuba diving and snorkelling are available here.
The reef bottom type makes for relaxed, accessible diving, and visibility is consistently good. Conditions are generally calm, contributing to the site's reputation as an easy, low-stress dive well suited to those new to Galápagos diving or looking to warm up before more challenging sites.
Marine life at Isla Lobos centres on sea lions, with the site rated one of the best in the Galápagos for watching sea lion pups. In the water, divers and snorkellers can encounter Galápagos sea lions, Galápagos fur seals, trumpetfish, green sea turtles, stingrays, Mobula rays, Galápagos stingrays, white-tip reef sharks, hammerhead sharks, and marine iguanas, though the latter are not frequently seen here. Blue-footed boobies are also present on and around the island.
Access is by boat from Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on San Cristóbal. The site is dived as a morning excursion, typically before continuing by boat to other sites in the area.
