Jack Point is a reef dive site in the Gili Islands, reached by boat as part of regular multi-dive excursions in the area. The reef structure drops to a maximum of 35 m, with shark activity concentrated below 24 m along the deeper sections of the reef.
The site is best known for reliable sightings of both whitetip and blacktip reef sharks, which circle the reef structure in the deeper water beneath 24 m. Above them, large schools of bigeye trevally typically spiral in the mid-water column, making the combination of pelagic fish and sharks a defining feature of the dive. Buoyancy control is especially important here, as most shark encounters occur close to the sandy bottom and a fin-kick into the substrate raises sediment that ruins visibility for the whole group.
Jack Point carries a medium current and is rated as an advanced dive, consistent with its 35 m maximum depth and the shark activity found in the deeper reaches of the site.
