Kichafi

Kichafi is a coral reef dive site located on the east coast of Zanzibar, forming part of the island's barrier reef. The reef runs from around 10–12 metres down to a maximum of 16–18 metres, with a gentle slope characterised by vast expanses of plate coral and areas of colourful sea cabbage. A large sandy area lies adjacent to the reef, and the site is considered suitable for divers of all experience levels, including as a training ground for courses.

The reef holds a healthy mix of hard coral formations, and the sandy bottom alongside it adds variety to the dive. Moray eels and scorpion fish shelter within the reef structure, while the sand is worth scanning for blue-spotted stingrays, garden eels, and guitarfish. Cobias and reef fish are also regularly encountered, and anemones with clownfish are present throughout. Eagle rays have been recorded at the site as well.

Entry is by boat, and the dive follows the gentle slope of the barrier reef. The site is described as an easy dive point with calm waters, making it accessible to beginners and open-water-certified divers.
