Kleifarvatn is a lake in Iceland about 30 km outside Reykjavik, surrounded by steep, colourful hills and strange lava formations.
Underwater hot springs were found about 10 metres from the shore on one side of the lake. In the middle of them is a large crater that gives off large amounts of warm water and gases. The pressure makes the surrounding rocks vibrate slightly, and divers can usually feel this themselves.
The lake is known for unusually large brown trout and char. It partly freezes over in winter, and water levels have to be checked often to judge access to the site.
