About this site
Kogyo Maru is a Japanese freighter wreck in Coron Bay, Philippines, built in 1938 and carrying construction materials for a runway when it was bombed in a 1944 air raid. She is 135 m long and lies on her starboard side in 34 m of water.
Divers can swim through all six holds and the engine room and bridge area. The second hold has an incline of cement bags, a small bulldozer and, above them, a tractor and air compressor. The front mast lies horizontal, with the crow's nest at its top. Hard and soft corals cover the sides of the ship, and a school of barracuda passes by.
The average depth is 24 to 26 m. The site is for Advanced Open Water divers, with the Wreck Diver specialty recommended for penetration.
