About this site
Mashraba is a reef at the southern end of Dahab bay, often overlooked as a dive site but rich in marine life. It is a shore dive where you can enter on the seagrass before the bridge or directly on the reef at Roman's rock.
Seagrass entry takes you past an underwater statue park with seahorses and anemonefish. A sandy slope leads to Roman's rock, a bommie at 20 metres, and the route runs south along a wall of table corals and gorgonians. A family of table coral lies at about 20 metres, then an impressive gorgonian fan. The turning point is a pinnacle swarming with glassfish and anthias, and you return along the shallow reef. A swim-through between pinnacles sits at 37 metres, and depths range 18 to 40 metres.
Rays, groupers, schools of juvenile catfish, seamoths, spotted seahorses and stonefish can be found.
