About this site

Meros, which translates as Groupers, is a beautiful little submerged pinnacle in the Gulf of Papagayo, packed full of life, with depths from the surface down to 18.3 metres (60 feet). It is shallow enough to snorkel and deep enough for a diver to enjoy, and the dive is rated easy.

Nudibranchs and prolific schools of grunts live around the rock, and the giant groupers for which the site was named are the highlight. Divers have also reported frogfish, seahorses, angelfish, parrotfish, pufferfish, stingrays, eels and octopuses.
