Minna Island

Minna Island, known as the Croissant Island, is a boat dive off Okinawa, Japan, for beginners and experienced divers alike. The dives split into shallow and deep parts. The shallow reef ring, at about 5 m, surrounds the island's white sandy beach and is probably one of the best in Okinawa. Table corals as big as a ping-pong table grow there, schools of fish cruise slowly, and mantis shrimps share their hideaways with octopus and eels.

In deeper water, around 15 to 20 m, smaller reefs grow out of the white sandy bottom like individual metropolises, each with its own residents such as Pacific blue tang, moray eels and schools of big eye snappers. Between these small reefs, colonies of garden eels feed on plankton in the moving water. Visibility is great and the current light, and the best season is April to October.
