Morazan Maru is a Japanese freighter wreck in Coron Bay, Philippines, at about N 11°59.266', E 120°02.199'. It is also known as Ekkai Maru, and it lies about 22.5 metres (74 feet) down at its deepest. Its identity has been muddled: it has also been listed as the Tangat Wreck, and recent thinking assigns the name Olympia Maru to this ship.
The ship was built in 1907 and completed in 1908 in Britain by Scott Shipbuilding and Engineering Co. She served as SS Manco in Liverpool from 1908 to 1921 as a transport, was later sold, and became a fruit freighter for banana companies in Honduras under the name El Morazan, after General Francisco Morazan. On one trip to East Asia she was captured by the Imperial Japanese Navy in the port of Shanghai on 8 December 1941, and she served Japan as a cargo ship until 1944.
The wreck is suited to experienced Open Water and Advanced Open Water divers, and a Wreck Diver specialty helps.
