The Palma Wrecks are a group of four modern shipwrecks lying on the sea side of the west dam, south of the port of Palma de Mallorca. The largest is a cargo ship approximately 60 metres in length, resting upright on the seabed in a natural position at 27 metres depth, with its antenna mast reaching up to 18 metres below the surface.
The bottom depth reaches 31 metres, with an average diving depth of around 24 metres. The antenna mast of the sunken freighter provides a useful landmark and is clearly visible on an echo sounder, which is used to locate the wrecks from the boat. A typical dive here lasts around 35 minutes.
The site is reached by a five-minute boat ride heading east, passing the Porto Pi caves and running parallel to the west dam toward Palma. The principal hazard is shipping traffic in the area, given the proximity to the port.
Spring and autumn are the recommended seasons for diving the Palma Wrecks. The site is rated intermediate to advanced in technique and is suited to divers with a solid level of experience. Current is light.
