The Pavilions is a wall dive east of Cane Bay on St Croix in the US Virgin Islands. The site is known for its abundance of marine life.
The wall and plateau are the main features. The wall is decorated with colourful sponges, whips and sea plumes, with hard and soft corals, elephant ear sponges and black coral. South of the mooring, in 35 feet (11 m) of water, a sandy arena is rimmed by coral and dotted with yellowhead jawfish and spaghetti worms. That sandy area makes an ideal habitat for nurse sharks and spotted moray eels.
Fish are plentiful. Look for schools of Atlantic spadefish, groupers, Creole wrasse, triggerfish and every species of butterflyfish along the wall. Watch for the rare pipefish and seahorses too.
