The Pedernales Wreck is the remains of an oil tanker that was torpedoed by a German submarine during the Second World War. It lies shallow, at around 7.6 metres, and is regarded as a good wreck for beginning divers.
The area around the wreck is known for its variety of marine life, with many kinds of groupers and a bounty of angelfish. Divers have also reported stingrays, nurse sharks, eagle rays, turtles, moray eels, scorpionfish, lobster and pufferfish here, along with grunts and goatfish.
Confirmed by our research team, reported by independent divers, or observed nearby via iNaturalist — each entry is labelled with its source.
