El Puertito is a protected bay on Tenerife with a small beach, and a shore dive that starts directly from the beach. It suits beginners and is also popular with advanced divers. Depths are about 8 to 14 metres, and you can park close to the water.
A volcanic rock reef lies a few metres from the beach, and Cueva Trompeta (Trumpet Cave) sits at 7 to 12 metres. The main reef near the beach is the deepest and has a rock formation with caves where unusual striped patterns can be seen.
Turtles used to be here most of the time but are now rarely seen. Moray eels, octopus and large schools of barracuda are the regular sightings, starfish and cuttlefish live in the shallower water, and with luck you can meet rays and angel sharks.
