Punta Secca is a reef site at Capraia offering two distinct dives — known as Gli Archi and Le Gorgonie — both considered demanding, with walls rich in marine life dropping to a maximum depth of 35 metres.
The terrain runs along walls and stepped drop-offs that create numerous crevices and dens. The dive at Gli Archi is regarded by specialists as among the ten finest dives in the Mediterranean for its morphology, while Le Gorgonie leads through what amounts to a garden of sea fans along the reef structure.
Marine life at the site includes lobster sheltering in the many wall recesses, as well as cat shark and scorpion fish. The season runs from May through October.
The site suits both beginner and advanced divers depending on the route chosen, though the full experience of Gli Archi and Le Gorgonie is classed as very demanding and suited to experienced divers comfortable with depth and the possibility of current.
