Purple Wall is a wall dive on Rainbow Reef, located in the Somosomo Strait near Taveuni Island, Fiji, along the same reef as the Great White Wall. The outer wall has a reef top beginning at 6 metres, dropping rapidly to 60 metres, and the wall itself is densely covered in purple Dendronephthya soft corals, sea whips in reds and purples, and large red gorgonian fans.
The wall regularly attracts pelagic species including schools of barracuda, trevally, jack trevally, Spanish mackerel, and reef sharks, with manta rays appearing occasionally. Smaller creatures found along the wall include nudibranchs, flatworms, lionfish, moray eels, and octopus, alongside anthiases, fusiliers, and basslets living among the corals.
The site is best dived on a slowing falling tide, which controls current and allows time to explore the wall closely. At its maximum depth of 60 metres, this is a technical dive requiring appropriate certification and experience. Visibility is generally good across the site.
