Dived here today? How were conditions vs. what we showed?
Sampalan is a drift dive site at Nusa Penida, and the dive follows a long slope with the current.
Divers can work between 5 and 30 metres. In the shallows the dive passes over coral gardens, and deeper along the hill the rocks are covered in soft and hard coral, with diversity on a par with Toyapakeh.
The marine life is varied. Thresher sharks, turtles, scorpionfish, stonefish, angelfish, a school of batfish, sea snakes, nudibranchs and barracuda are all seen here, and a hammerhead shark has been reported as well.
