Shaab Abu Nugar is a shallow reef dive site in the El Gouna area of the Egyptian Red Sea, widely regarded as one of the most popular and joyful sites in the region. The reef reaches a maximum depth of 10 metres, making it accessible and well-suited to beginner divers. Moorings are available, and the site is protected, keeping conditions consistently calm with light current and water temperatures ranging from around 24.6 °C to 28 °C.
The site is particularly well known for dolphin encounters, which have made it a favourite among divers of all levels. Alongside dolphins, the reef supports groupers, snappers, wrasses, moray eels, barracuda, and eagle rays, as well as nudibranchs and shrimps for those looking more closely. The reef structure itself features hard corals, table corals, and brain corals throughout.
