The Jetty is a shore-entry muck dive site situated on the eastern part of the bay, where an almost abandoned jetty provides structure over a sandy bottom at depths of 2 to 18 metres. Entry is made directly from shore, and current runs from none to mild, making it accessible to beginner divers.
The site is a classic muck dive, with the jetty pilings, sandy bottom, and associated debris forming habitat for a dense community of small and cryptic creatures. Frogfish — including painted frogfish — cling to ropes and hard surfaces, while ghost pipefish and ornate ghost pipefish hide against the structure. Seahorses, nudibranchs of many varieties, pipefish, longnose pipefish, snake eels, cuttlefish, blue-spotted stingrays, shrimps, crabs, and sea urchins are all regularly encountered here. The site is noted as an excellent night dive, when the isolated structure makes it easier to pick out well-camouflaged residents.
Water temperature ranges from 26 to 30°C. Rubbish on the bottom is a noted hazard, so good buoyancy control is advisable to avoid disturbing sediment and to protect both the marine life and visibility.
