About this site
The Sunken Tugboat is a wreck dive site located in Sabang Harbour, Pulau Weh, Indonesia, where a well-preserved tugboat rests on the seafloor at between 15 and 20 metres depth. The wreck is covered in vibrant corals and sponges, and its structure — including the steering cabin — provides shelter and habitat for a range of marine life.
Crocodile fish can be found camouflaged on the sand around the wreck, nudibranchs cling to the hull, and twin-spot lionfish inhabit the steering cabin. Schools of reef fish and moray eels are resident throughout the site, with occasional trevally also passing through.
Visibility is excellent, and the site is accessible year-round with water temperatures of 28–29°C. The maximum depth of 20 metres and straightforward conditions make this a suitable dive for beginners.
