Tobia Hamra is a shallow reef dive site located near Safaga in the Egyptian Red Sea, dived as a boat dive. The site faces east, making it a natural choice for a morning dive when the light and visibility are at their best in that direction.
The reef reaches a maximum depth of 12 m, and the shallow section is structured as a maze of ridges and canyons, creating varied terrain to explore. Sandy flats extend around the reef and provide resting habitat for some of the larger species found here.
The reef holds a healthy range of marine life. Turtles are a fairly familiar sight, and Napoleon wrasse and moray eels are regularly encountered. Butterflyfish, batfish, and angelfish are typical reef residents, while stonefish and Red Sea walkman (scorpionfish) are also present and warrant careful fin placement. Jacks and barracuda visit periodically to hunt, and zebra sharks have been spotted resting on the sandy flats.
The site is rated suitable for all levels, with light current and a maximum depth of 12 m making it accessible to beginners and those looking for a relaxed dive in a diverse, shallow reef environment.
