Veronica L is a 120 ft (about 37 m) cargo barge lying as a wreck dive off Grenada in the Caribbean. It makes an easy, fun dive, with a depth range from 8 m (25 ft) to 15 m (50 ft).
The vast hold is open and empty, and it holds swirling clouds of small fry and shy, big-eyed squirrelfish. Coral-encrusted deck machinery includes an anchor windlass on the bow and a freight crane aft with a 20 ft arm extending sideways. The hull sits upright, and a closer look shows banded coral shrimp cleaning reef fish and a carpet of bright orange and yellow cup corals along the port side.
Trumpetfish hover vertically and pass for stanchions, while creole wrasse and sergeant majors circle the stern and get chased by horse-eyed jacks and bar jacks. The patch and scrub reef around the wreck holds seahorses, green morays, flatworms and nudibranchs.
Conditions and diving: the site is a good photography dive by day and an even better night dive when the cup corals are in full bloom. Visibility has averaged around 25 m (80 ft) with water at 28 C (84 F) on a typical morning.
