Whale Rock is a dive site in the Grand Baie–Pereybere area of Mauritius, built around a large rocky formation that gives the site its name. The terrain is entirely rock, with depths ranging from 20 m to 45 m, making it a site suited to more experienced divers comfortable with the depth range and the strong currents that run here.
The rocky structure is surrounded by schools of fish, and the site regularly draws rays and barracudas cruising the formation. Whale sharks and mantas are also associated with the site, most reliably encountered between February and April.
Given the depth reaching 45 m, the strong current, and its technical classification, Whale Rock is best suited to advanced or technical divers rather than beginners.
