Alamanda is a deep wall dive in Tulamben, Bali, reached by boat in a short trip from the Drop Off site. It sits in a protected nature reserve where spearfishing is prohibited, and few divers visit it.
The steep wall is usually explored to around 30 metres, though the reef continues past 50 metres to a white sandy bottom. Sponges and gorgonian fans cover the wall, and it is a good place to find the tiny pygmy seahorse. The slope above is covered in coral with gigantic sponge formations.
Because it is deeper, larger fish and pelagics turn up, including Napoleon wrasse and bumpheads, sharks and the occasional mola mola. Manta rays, eagle rays, thresher sharks, hammerhead sharks and sea turtles are seen now and then.
Conditions here are for skilled divers, and the site can be done as a deep or drift dive.
