Cape Kakomouri is a shore, travel and drift dive in open sea. Entry is by giant stride from a set of stairs, and the route heads down and to the right toward the west point, in the direction of Plakias. Divers reach the outer drop-off of the cape at 30 metres, pass the deepest area, which runs to 40 metres, then come back along the upper level at 20 to 18 metres and finish at 8 to 6 metres near the exit stairs.
The area is extremely bright and quite different from the neighbouring bay. Octopuses, moray eels, small colourful fish, sponges, sea urchins and starfish live here, and a Caretta caretta turtle, big groupers or big silver dentex sometimes come up from the depths to meet divers.
The site is open or closed depending on sea conditions and wave height, and it can only be dived in good weather without south wind. Even then, a strong underwater current can make the return toward the entry difficult.
Confirmed by our research team, reported by independent divers, or observed nearby via iNaturalist — each entry is labelled with its source.
